Brady Van Wyk
Vocational Education & Training (VET) Coordinator
Vocational Education and Training (VET) provides students with skills and knowledge to perform effectively in the workplace. A VET qualification prepares students for, or in some instances qualifies them for a specific job. Certificate courses are competency based. Successful completion of a certificate course will allow a student to achieve a national training qualification. Completing a VET qualification while at school allows students to maximise their Year 11 and 12 achievement and provide support for students to transition with confidence to post school options. Logical pathways for students who undertake these programs include full-time enrolment in higher level TAFE courses, Apprenticeships/Traineeships, employment, and in some cases alternative entry pathways to university. VET contributes significantly towards a student’s Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE).
The VET Coordinator assists students with the application process and ongoing support for TAFE VETdSS courses delivered at Busselton, Margaret River and Bunbury campuses. They also assist students with contract sign ups and ongoing support for School Based Traineeships as well as managing contracts and maintaining compliance requirements of auspicing VET courses at CNC. They also liaise with the Busselton Trade Training Centre (TTC) regarding training opportunities available through the school.
